The Government has Issued a Fraud Alert Regarding Individuals Pretending to be Government Officials
The Government has issued a Fraud Alert to warn citizens of recent reports that Government phone numbers were being used targeting applicants throughout the country.
The Government takes scams and matters like this very seriously. The scams are currently being investigated. Please DO NOT provide any information over the phone or receive or send any money requested from you.
If you believe you may have been a victim of this scam you are urged to call the Government Hotline (1-800-323-8603) or file a complaint online via the DHS OIG website at www.oig.dhs.gov. By asking the perpetrators for a phone number or email address you can use to contact them to facilitate payment, you may be able to obtain valuable information that could assist the Government to investigate the scam.
